Clinic — Intensive Care Unit
For the conduct of studies requiring close and continuous monitoring of subjects´ vital functions we use our intensive care unit. These studies include but are not limited to the following types:
  • First in Man
  • Drug / Food-Interaction
  • Studies on Narcotics

The unit features 24 intensive care beds and with the montoring devices and telemetry equipment we can monitor up to 16 subjects simultaneously. Especially in this unit, the safety and well-being of the volunteers is in the focus of each investigation. Our safety approach includes 5 additional major elements

  • Professional emergency care
    Two physicians of our staff are trained anaesthesiologists and have specialized in First aid. Training is kept active by regular public duties on emergency helicopters and ambulances.
  • University hospital cooperation
    SCOPE is located in the vicinity of the University Hospital Hamburg Eppendorf. For cases of emergency a contract defining cooperation and information exchange is in place.
  • Continuous training
    All medical personnel receives hands-on first aid training by experienced and up-to date trained physicians on an annual basis.
  • Equipment
    Our emergency equipment includes
    • Telemetry and monitoring devices
    • Emergency buttons and handles in each bedroom and bathroom.
    • Crash carts / emergency kits equipped according to hospital standard
    • Defibrilator
  • Defined Processes
    As part of our system of SOPs we define and train in detail how to prepare and what to do in emergency situations.
